Letting Go of Control Series: Unexpected Situations And The Future.
Of all the topics that we have talked about, Introduction, Parenting, and Relationships. I believe that this is the most important and the most prevalent.
The need to control our future, situations and lives. The worry, anxiety, and fear of what may happen or is to come, cripples us into planning our lives out just so, so that we are in control. The problem with this is that it is a never ending cycle.
You worry, have anxiety and fear for what may happen which leads to overly controlling/planning/ or placing expections on how our lives should go in order to feel in control and have less worry. However, when things don't go as planned and the unplanned or unexpected happens it just leads right back to worry, anxiety and fear! And round and round it goes!
How exhausting! The moment you think that you have it all together and do not have any worry, something that you didn't plan for happens and then back you go to worry and anxiety.
Does this have to be our lives forever? No.
Can we break free of that cycle?!?
YES! You absolutely can!
It comes when we are so close to Christ and have such a personal relationship with him that we give him our full trust to Him and His plan.
We need to come to the realization that only God has full control and that he IS trustworthy as he has proven over the millenniums. (Don't believe me? Read his book, promises to Abraham, Noah, and David. Promises about the coming of a savior. Just to name a few!) He has always kept his promises and the ones in your life are no different. Once we come to accept and acknowledge that we don't have to worry or be concerned about the future or the unknowns. No need to harbor any anxiety over our lives. We can finally let it all go, because we have the joy in knowing that God is in control. We don't need that burden anymore.
The LORD is my light and my salvation-- whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life--of whom shall I be afraid? Psalm 27:1
Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you or forsake you. Deuteronomy 31:6
But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. Matthew 6:33-34
But with any relationship trust takes time and effort. If you do not actively pursue a relationship with Christ, to know him, understand who he is and how he functions, then your trust for him will not develop and you will not be able to stop the cycle.
Through Christ, through God, and through the Holy Spirit we can let it all go. We can finally loosen our grip on the control of of lives, that was not truly there to hold onto in the first place. Instead, we can hold onto God because He has it all planned out.
With the joy that is given when you are free of trying to control, the unexpected things that may come your way in the future won't effect you, you will be able to handle it in stride with no worry because you know and fully trust that God is in control.
I have borderline hyperthyroidism but I sit here with joy in my heart waiting for the unknown next step because I know God is in control of my health, my relationships, my parenting, my work, my writings, and my entire life. I do not have to worry at all because that burden has been lifted.
Trust God with it all my dear friends. Let go of control and feel free knowing that you don't need to worry about it anymore.
