Secrets Are Satan's Chains

Secrets Are Satans’ Chains

August 22, 2016 Tara Joy 0

Secrets tell us the lie that no one would understand. The lie that it is better, easier, or less embarrassing to hold it in then to come clean. They convince us that the consequence of telling someone is too great, and worse than keeping it locked away inside. But I tell you that secrets are satans’ chains meant to enslave you and keep you from the one who can heal the brokenness inside. “For nothing is hidden, except t one revealed; nor has anything been secret, but that it would come to light.” -Mark 4:22 When I was a little [Continue Reading…]

Write In Your Bible – Why I Recommend It.

August 15, 2016 Tara Joy 0

I write in my Bible now, but this time last year I refused to make any mark on my Bible of any kind. It wasn’t until a friend and fellow blogger Dara write an eye opening post called Let Them Burn on her blog, Living Story. I began to ponder why it is I felt so against writing in my Bible and I discovered that I was placing the Bible itself as an idol in my heart. Instead of using it as a tool to place God’s word in my heart, I was allowing the pages to become more important to me [Continue Reading…]

Skirts – Why I Wear Skirts Daily 2 Year Update!

August 8, 2016 Tara Joy 0

Two years ago, I made the decision to wear skirts daily in response to my heart changing for God. I posted Why I Wear  Skirts Daily in effort to share with you where I was at in my journey. Am I still wearing skirts daily? What have I learned in wearing them? Two years ago we were living in the south east of the US. The temperatures made it fairly simple to wear dresses everyday, even in the winter. However, 8 months ago we moved to a place we’ve never been. This area has winds and temperatures we have never known. I quickly realized, having [Continue Reading…]

Heart Problem

Problem with the Heart, not the Mind.

August 1, 2016 Tara Joy 0

Many people have told me that they just intellectually cannot believe in God or Jesus. There is not enough evidence. The problem is that whenever I state my case with supporting evidence, nothing I say can convince them otherwise. They claim that it is a lack or evidence, or just not intellectual to believe in what the eyes cannot see. Instead, it is a heart problem because no amount of evidence will convince them to consider the alternative. Although this is a frustrating and disheartening at times, there are things that we can do to help them. Let’s discuss on [Continue Reading…]

Love

Love, More Than Words

July 25, 2016 Tara Joy 0

Hi Every One! Today I am blogging about LOVE at over at BibleVerses.com on 1 Corinthians 13:4-7. When we are at the alter on our wedding day, promising to love the other person for the rest of our lives, we smile and think about how wonderful and easy it will be. We feel love overflowing from our core of what the future with our new spouse may hold.   Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.  It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record [Continue Reading…]

Twenty Six: Achievements, Hopes and Dreams

July 18, 2016 Tara Joy 0

Twenty Six years old. Wow. I really cannot believe it myself, and it was my own birthday this past weekend! At twenty six, I am extremely proud of how fair I have come as a person and in what I have achieved. It feels like yesterday I was graduating high school, then college and now here I am at twenty six. To celebrate, I would like to reflect on how far I have come and where I hope to go from here. Every year I like to assess where I am and where I would like to be. Take some time [Continue Reading…]

Respect In 21st Century

Respect In The 21st Century

July 11, 2016 Tara Joy 0

Respect: “a feeling or understanding that someone is important and should be treated in an appropriate way.” While I was substituting for a few weeks in a kindergarten class, we would do a daily activity of spelling the “Happy Apples’” first name. The teacher would ask why the first letter was capitalized, and the students would reply, “because it is important!” The students name is important because the student as an individual is important. You are important, your spouse, your kids, your friends and your enemies are important and worthy of respect. Why? Because we are all created in the image [Continue Reading…]

US Founded On Christianity

United States and Christianity (PODCAST)

July 4, 2016 Tara Joy 0

Happy Fourth of July everyone! Today, exactly 240 years when our founding fathers declared their independence from England, the United States was born. Some people argue that the separation of church and state was something based on the what the founding fathers wanted for the United States. However, that is not true. The US was founded on Christian ideals, values, and influenced the very core of our country. Religious freedom was held as sacred, with all of the colonists holding on to some form of christianity. Whether it was quaker, baptist, mennonite or methodist; christian values made their way into our documents, such as the Declaration of Independence and [Continue Reading…]

View

View From The Top

June 27, 2016 Tara Joy 0

In May my family and I took a week vacation in the mountains. All week long we marveled at the view we don’t usually get to see. The view from the top of a mountain is like no other. It enables you to see out for miles over the city as well as the vast nature beyond. It is simply a breath-taking way to receive a new perspective on life. As we left our concrete jungle of nonstop development in the name of profit, advancement and innovation, I realize the perspective in which I had become accustomed was extremely narrow. [Continue Reading…]

Legalism

Legalism in Christianity (VIDEO)

June 20, 2016 Tara Joy 1

According to Wikipedia,  “Legalism, in Christian theology, is the act of putting law above the gospel by establishing requirements for salvation beyond repentance and faith in Jesus Christ.” When it comes to following the commands of the Bible, how can we tell if we are following legalism or the grace of Jesus? Are our actions of prayer, head covering, church participation and the like, done with desire to please God or man? It is a fine line to walk, especially when you  are acting in a way that is counter cultural – sometimes people can come off as being legalistic, but is that [Continue Reading…]
